This is the first short blog of a three part series about the newly released doTERRA Yoga Collection Essential Oils. 

Two of my favourite things - yoga and essential oils. Alone they are both so powerful in supporting and healing us, and when we bring them together, we can elevate our experience to a whole different level. 

The doTERRA Yoga Collection essential oils have just been released in Europe and I am super excited about being able to integrate these new oils into my practice and teaching. 

This collection of blends was co-created by one of my beloved teachers Elena Brower.  She introduces the oils beautifully in this short video.

All three blends can be introduced to your yoga practice in an unlimited number of ways and all contribute to the emotional support and therapy that yoga provides us. The oils can be used both aromatically and topically before, during or after your practice, depending on your preference and intentions.

All of the blends can be used whether or not you have a yoga practice to cultivate your emotional and mental wellbeing in everyday life.

Anchor

Anchor is the doTERRA Steadying Blend, and it was specifically created to calm your mind and soothe your body. It is a grounding blend, helping you feel connected to your self and your surroundings, as well as your desires and vision.  It also helps to anchor you to the reality of your daily actions to achieve all of this.  Anchor also helps to promote feelings of balance and stillness in times of uncertainty.

What is in Anchor?

Lavender, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Cinnamon, Frankincense, Black Pepper, and Patchouli essential oils in a base of Fractionated Coconut oil, Anchor’s aroma is earthy, woody, and rich helping you feel rooted and grounded.

Some favourite ways to use Anchor

The doTERRA blog suggests some wonderful ways to use this essential oil

  1. When faced with challenges or big decisions, apply two to three drops of Anchor on your heart to help encourage a steady foundational sense on how to move forward.

  2. Apply to ankles, base of spine, and bottoms of feet to promote feelings of completeness and calmness.

  3. Apply two to three drops to desired areas while meditating to feel steady, complete, and calm.

Perfect Asanas for Anchor

Anchor with its grounding and steadying properties is ideal used with any grounding and balancing posture, such as Vrksasana (tree pose), Parivrta Trikonasa (revolved triangle), Padmasana (lotus pose), and all seated postures. Anchor is also perfect used in meditation, and also in intention setting.
